Empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth through mentorship and positive role modelling is essential, especially as Australia’s evolving landscape has a significant impact on young people beginning their journeys. In Queensland, nearly half of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population is under 25, with a large percentage aged between 12-25. This age group carries a considerable responsibility to shape cultural growth and strengthen their communities. By developing the leadership skills of young people with a focus on inclusivity and equity, we can address the systemic challenges and barriers they face.
This workshop offers strategies to boost the motivation and engagement of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, guiding them to become active and positive contributors to their communities. It also aims to improve your mentoring skills, allowing you to better support young people in your community. Embrace a new approach to education by empowering young people through effective mentoring and leadership systems, creating an environment where they can become leaders and mentors themselves.
Attend this workshop and learn how to:
- Refine your mentoring skills and tailor them to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
- Align your leadership expertise with effective mentoring approaches.
- Learn to establish a supportive workshop environment and maintain it long-term.

- Strategies to boost motivation and engagement among Indigenous youth in their communities.
